At last a walk on forestry comission land

At last I’m back walking on forestry comission land, my foot is bandaged and I’m on a leash but gosh those forest smells are good.

Sad news is we came across broken glass, and metal bottle tops on just a little walk from the car park, why can’t people take their rubbish home.

Fluke has gone off to place our new geocache, I’m not happy and being left behind walking near the car park while my brother has adventures, but at least I’m out.

Gonna do some tracking games now, slow leash ones alas, but better than nothing.

Challenge Four : place different shapes in a bamboo cane vase

For this challenge, I have to put different shapes in the neck of the vase, as you can see some shapes are easier that others.

You have to be very careful, about Extinction with this trick, if us dogs try something over and over and gets no reaction for it, we will deem this to be a pointless waste of time thing to do, and so we will stop offering this behaviour.

Like with our ancestors if a hunting technique constantly failed, they would abandon it and try something else.

So you need to pay us for every attempt at putting the bone near the bamboo vase with one treat, but give us jackpots of treats for putting the bone on the vase, or anything that looks like an attempt to get the bone in the vase.

We also play a game where the bone is placed in the vase and I get told to hold and drop, I get Jackpotted for this, as well, and it gives me an idea of what the end behaviour should look like.

I play this game for my Burns fish and brown rice, so far I have managed to manouvre the bone into place myself twice, more luck than judgement though alas, but this is proving to be a good challenge to keep me amused while I am injured.

Why don’t you give it a try and post a video of your efforts.

Sunday 2nd September it rained so hard

Now some dogs don’t mind the rain, but I am very much a fair weather girl, so I wasn’t as disappointed about missing out on my usual long hike on Sunday.

My owner was prearmed with loads of information on games to play with dogs in recovery, and instead of me just having my dinner, I was set puzzles to earn it.

The first challenge was to put a yoghurt pot into a cube fruit salad tub, I do a lot of basketball games, so this was not to hard to master.

Fluke wanted to join in, and get this for supreme Toller brain powern not !! Flukes been off his food lately, its my owner that drives us out for the long hikes, so we have both been missing out. Now where as I am alway hungry and will eat anything, if Fluke is not starving he goes into fussy mode, but now – watch him desperately doing clicker training for the food the Burns Fish and Brown rice he just turned his nose up too. Maybe it’s the attention he likes.

For the second challenge we robbed the box ready for the charity shop. From which we got teo bamboo vases, for a warm up we put tennis balls in these, but then we progressed to oblong shapes, working our way up to a rubber bone, which to be honest even had me puzzled, when it was dangled over and I was told to hold and drop, I had it, but manouvering it into that position myself from the floor is a totally different animal. I got loads of treats for attemps but very few Jackpots. So will have to have a ponder on how to work out this one, don’t want my jackpot queen crown slipping.

Monday 2nd trip out today

Went to the sports ground again today, just for a short stroll and sniff. I walked on a short lead and had my paw bandaged in vet wrap and we stayed on the freshly cut grass.

It was nice and sunny and dry, and we sat on a hill playing leave it and tracking games, while a Labrador and a Merle played in the field below, how I miss to run run, think in dog years how long it’s taking for my paw to heel.

We also visited my Daddy, who keeps a box of bisuits and his for me and my brother.

Now I’m blogging from Tescos car park, we are waiting for Mummy in the car, hopefully because she has been so long, it will mean the hunt was successfull. And Mummy will return with lots of lovely food.
